ALFACAM GROUP

Alfacam Group is an industry leader in providing worldwide television facilities. The company was the first to introduce High Definition television in Europe. The group consists of four innovative companies: Alfacam, Euro1080, EuroLinx and the Eurocam Media Center.

Alfacam: HDTV worldwide

Broadcasters and production companies all over the world frequently send requests to Alfacam for its High Definition television facilities. The OB vehicles, fully equipped for HDTV recordings, travel all over Europe and beyond. Alfacam has recorded events, rock concerts, classical concerts and operas in over 50 countries. The Pan American Games in Rio De Janeiro (2007), Wimbledon (2006-2007), The Rolling Stones concert in Werchter (2007), the MTV European Music Awards in Copenhagen (2006), the annual New Year's Concert in Vienna (since 2003), the Salzburger Festspiele (2005-2006), … The list of worldwide recordings undertaken by Alfacam is extensive. Recently, the company signed agreements for the recording of major events such as the World Championship Judo in Brazil and the Brazilian and Arabian Football competition.
www.alfacam.com

Euro1080: Europe's pioneer in HDTV

Before 2004 there was no platform available in Europe to broadcast the astonishing HD images recorded by Alfacam. Hence, Alfacam took up the challenge and founded Euro1080. Euro1080 initially started broadcasting across the whole of Europe. The pan-European channel HD1 began transmitting on 1st January, 2004. For a long time it was the only HDTV station in Europe. In 2005, Euro1080 launched a second HDTV channel, HD2. This "focused" channel works towards specific target audiences and geographic regions. When pan-European rights cannot be acquired for an event, Euro1080 can broadcast just to specific regions only as was the case with the Turin Winter Olympics, the FIFA World Cup 2006 and Wimbledon 2006.
Euro1080 is currently developing regional HDTV channels all over Europe. Each language region will have an HD1 channel focusing on sports, fashion and lifestyle programmes and an EXQI channel bringing culture in the widest sense to a large audience.

EuroLinx: the wireless future

Created as a spin-off of the wireless technologies developed at Alfacam, EuroLinx specialises in the wireless HDTV transmission domain, providing satellite services and advanced HDTV wireless connections. These are particularly suitable for sporting events taking place over large areas or long distances such as marathons, cycling events or car races.

Eurocam Media Center

The Eurocam Media Center, located in Lint (near Antwerp, Belgium) houses the play-out facilities of the Euro1080 HDTV channels, editing and production areas, and also the offices and warehouses of Alfacam and EuroLinx. It is also home to other media companies such as MTV Networks Benelux and part of the Multimedia & Communications Technology Department of the Karel De Grote University College.
Furthermore, there are ten television studios, complete with state-of-the-art facilities such as dressing rooms, guest rooms and a tavern. These studios are entirely suitable for the recording of TV programmes and live shows. In 2007-2008, many top productions produced by VRT, VTM, RTL-TVi, VT4, TMF and EXQI will be recorded in Lint.
