Heather Croall is the Director of the Sheffield
International Documentary Festival (Doc/Fest), the premiere documentary
event in the UK. Doc/Fest is a film festival, a conference and
a major marketplace - the 5 day festival is fast becoming one
of the leading documentary events in Europe.
Heather was previously the director of the Australian International
Documentary Conference (AIDC), where she developed the innovative
matchmaking pitching initiative The MeetMarket. The MeetMarket
is now also a central part of the Sheffield Doc/Fest marketplace
activity.
Heather has produced documentaries and cross platform projects
since 1992. In traditional TV broadcast productions, a number
of her documentaries, including Paradise Bent (Boys Will Be
Girls In Samoa) won international awards, sold internationally
on television and screened in film festivals around the world.
She has produced cross platform projects such as usmob.com.au
Heather has been one of the documentary industry's leading
proponents of the emerging field of new media - Heather began
to develop a conference programme called DigiDocs in 2000 along
with international partners and this is now a major strand of
programming in Sheffield Doc/Fest. Doc/Fest is also a co-producer
of the Crossover Lab that encourages tradtional film and TV
producers to collaborate with new media and interactive producers.
