Head of International Relations, European Documentary Network
Anita Reher was one of the founders of
the European Documentary Network (EDN) in 1996. EDN is an international
association of documentary filmmakers, producers, distributors,
broadcasters, festivals and other film professionals, which provides
services to its members. The association's headquarters are in
Copenhagen, Denmark. Anita Reher was EDN's Network Manager from
1996 to 2006. She was responsible for developing the structure
of EDN and many of the initiatives that EDN continues to pursue
including: founding and organizing the FORUM in cooperation with
IDFA, creating the Southern European Workshops, which EDN has
conducted in Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal for ten years.
Anita Reher has planned and coordinated more than 50 international
workshops on pitching, storytelling, distribution, and promotion.
In 2007 Anita Reher became EDN's Head of International Relations
and now concentrates her time consulting with members about
how to conduct business and navigate the European world of documentary
filmmaking at Sunny Side, MIPDOC, IDFA, and other important
festivals and markets. She also nurtures EDN's extensive network
of contacts in Europe, its relationships with the film institutes,
broadcasters, and EDN's institutional members.
Anita Reher began her career in the field of documentaries
when she joined the MEDIA I project DOCUMENTARY in 1992 shortly
after its creation by the European Union. Anita has a degree
in languages and a background in marketing.
